Three Chords and the Truth

By Ronnie Narmour

That’s a headline I never thought I’d ever find myself typing. Kind of sounds medieval. Here’s the back-story in a nutshell... my Mermaid Gal works at Harte Research Institute at TAMCC in oceanic plastic pollution. Last week was Shark Week and Harte had mucho shark related activities going on

including a “Sharks in the Park” event at the Corpus Christi Hooks versus the Amarillo Sod Poodles baseball game at Whataburger Field last Thursday. And we had great seats

right behind third base and I totally dug it.

I had never been to a Hooks game in all the

years I’ve lived here and I’m love baseball.

All of Tracy’s coworkers were there includ-

ing her boss, the Jace Tunnell, who took our

picture. Everyone one loved the stomping

that the Hooks gave the “Soddies” with a

final score of eleven to zip. BTW, a Sod Poo-

dle refers to a little “colony-forming rodent

species that belong to the squirrel family

(Sciuridae)” or in your native tongue... a

Prairie Dog. And prairie dogs are big news

in the Great South Plains, in fact, there was

actually a “Prairie Dog Town” at the Mack-

enzie Park in Lubbock when I was growing

up and we’d gather up the whole family and

make a day of it watching the little buggers

pop their heads in and out of their many bur-

rows. I digress. In short (too late for that) our

beloved Hooks stomped all over the baseball

team from the Panhandle from get to go and

it was more fun than a bag of cats. The end.

Man did I just go around my elbow to get to

my thumb, or what?
