HEB To Go Curbside Service is coming to the Bluff September 4th. To use this service you shop online, select your pick up time and when you pull up curbside they will load your car. They are currently constructing the separate entryway for this service. The personal shopper fee is $4.95 and is available 7:30 am – 9 pm.

 

The Statesboro Review Band will be at the Schlitterbahn Veranda patio on Saturday, September 2nd 8 – 11:30 pm. The free Overdrive App allows you to read any book available at the Corpus Christi Libraries. You just need to obtain a library card at Janet Harte Public Library next to Flour Bluff High School. You can borrow books to read on any device for two weeks.

 

The old Greyhound bus station on Chapparal is being converted to a food truck park. The BUS Bar (bar under the sun) will also be located there.  It is scheduled to be open this fall.

 

The Blue Crab Boutique on Compass will be closed for vacation until Thursday, August 10th.

Free school/athletics physicals will be given at the Flour Bluff High School Teaching Theater Thursday, August 10th noon – 4 pm.

 

A Goodwill truck is no longer located on the Island. However, The Salvation Army offers pick up on the Island.

The Sand Crab Nighttime Beach Run will be held in Port A on Saturday, July, 29th 8 pm at the Magee Beach Park. After the run there will be beer, refreshments and music to enjoy at the beach. The event benefits Friends of the ARK which supports animal rehabilitation. The cost is $20 for kids under 12, $50 for the 5k event and $55 for the 10k event.

I keep getting asked about the grocery store but I have no answers. I tried calling and texting the developer but have not gotten a response. I can only guess no grocery store has committed but that is pure conjecture.

 

The Sunset Sounds Free concert in Port A featuring Aloha Dave and the Tourists is set for Friday, July 14, 7-9pm. Friday. The Aquarius Park has a portion of it adopted by an Islander . An application to the Parks and Recreation Adopt-A-Park program was approved  and there are others who have submitted applications.  So far plans are for a community garden plot and new playground equipment.

 

There are currently 241 condo/townhomes for sale on the Island. The first two weeks of June there were eight purchased.

 

The CC RTA  has added a bus route shuttle that takes the ferry with a priority lane with no waiting. There is no Aransas Pass bus so on that side you need to get to the ferry launch.  In Port A they will oblige for anywhere you would like it to stop.

Cough, cough and yes I am still coughing eleven days after spending two hours outdoors during our 40 mph sandstorm day. I have not had a cold or flu in decades and do not have allergies so I kept thinking I would get over it. I finally went to the doctor today where I was diagnosed with bronchial irritation caused by things like “dust.” Here’s hoping the steroid, steroid inhaler and cough med kicks in.

Cough, cough, pardon cough, cough my cough, cough. Last Saturday the Island sandstorm was especially bad and I made the mistake of spending a couple of hours outdoors with friends that day. Well, ok it was at the Pelican outdoor bar. Finally on day 4 I feel some slight relief. So far they have received only seven complaints. More complaints = more action.
